Nature’s Medicine

Hey guys. I know its been a little while since my last post. Chad and I have both been fighting being sick and have spent a good amount of time on the couch the past few days. 😦

So let’s go back a few days before we get into today’s topic. Thursday was our anniversary. We had an awesome day, just the two of us. We started the day with a 2 hour hike in Seneca Park, which backs up right to our back yard. The dog’s were happy campers and were excited to start the day with mom and dad.

After our hike we went to the public market to stock up on veggies for the week. After that we were hungry!! We went to one of our favorite breakfast spots, Frog Pond, on Park Ave. We got awesome omlettes that kept us full most of the day!

Chad brought me to LuluLemon and spoiled me with some new workout stuff (he know how to keep me happy hehe). After that we decided a movie would be perfect on this lazy, cloudy day. After an experience at the Webster theater you can’t really watch a movie anywhere else, so we checked the movie times. “Gone Girl” was the next movie playing, so we decided to give it a shot.

images-3 Let me start off with it was a great movie. We didn’t know anything about the storyline or the book before we watched it. It was a bit ironic (you know, being our anniversary and all, that it was a movie about an unhappy marriage and a husband possibly murdering his wife) for us to watch that day, but either way we enjoyed it. You should go see it.

We ended our perfect day with dinner at TRATA, one of our favorite places. We shared an awesome bottle of wine and a skillet cookie. Perfectly delicious cheats 🙂

images-4 This isnt our actual one, but you get the idea – cookie made in skillet. How can you really go wrong. Chad also made sure we got the perfect cookie to ice cream ratio so we had ice cream with each bite 🙂

Halloween at CF Boomtown was an awesomely fun day. We had some exceptional costumes. Here are a few for your viewing pleasure.

I guess we had too much fun Thursday and Friday, because we ended up back on the couch pretty much all day Saturday. I guess its that time of year. Its getting cold out. But I HATE being sick.

Which brings us to our topic for today – Nature’s Medicine.

There are a lot of natural ways to keep yourself healthy this cold and flu season without pumping yourself full of Nyquil. Vitamin C is going to be your first go-to. Bump up that shit and take it everyday to increase your immunity and hopefully avoid getting sick at all. Some other natural preventitive things include echinacea, garlic and olive root extract. Echinacea and garlic are natural herbal antibiotics and are great when used to fight infection.

Take half a teaspoon of echinacea for 10 days to fight an infection and boost immunity. You can eat garlic or take a garlic supplement to get its benefits.

Tea, honey and the broth from chicken soup are also natural medicinal agents that will help with colds and sore throats.

You have transformed the quality of your eating, why not improve the supplements you put in your body to keep your well or make you better. Wouldn’t it be more beneficial to use nature’s medicine than downing pills and cough syrups?

Check out this website for more information about natural remedies and for lots of awesome health and wellness information.

Thanks for reading. Stay well.
